Football: Giroud leaves Arsenal to sign eighteen-month deal with cross-town rivals Chelsea

Saturday, February 3, 2018

On Wednesday, English football club Chelsea FC announced signing French forward Olivier Giroud from cross-town rivals Arsenal FC on a eighteen-month contract. The deal is reportedly worth about £18 million. Olivier Giroud is to wear jersey number 18, the club announced via their website.

31-year-old Giroud joined The Gunners in 2012. Since then, the Frenchman has played 253 games for Arsenal and scored 105 goals. During his tenure at the Emirates Stadium, Giroud has won three FA Cups. He has also won the Community Shield trophy with Arsenal.

Giroud remarked on joining The Blues, “Chelsea is one of the biggest teams in the Premier League. They have won maybe the most trophies in the last six or seven years. It’s a massive club and I am proud to sign for Chelsea, and I’m looking forward to playing.”

Chelsea loaned Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi to German club Borussia Dortmund. Giroud’s departure from Arsenal was announced shortly after Arsenal announced signing Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund for about £56 million making him the costliest player in Arsenal’s history.

Creating Personalized Home Insurance Plans

byAlma Abell

When you purchase your house, you need to make sure that both your home and your belongings are protected. Every home is as unique as the people who are residing in it and for that reason, considering personalized home insurance plans will help you find coverage that fits your needs as well as your budget.

Advantages of a Personalized Plan

When you select a personalized home insurance plan, you can have control over your home insurance to ensure that you are covered against the risks that are most likely to affect you. Some of the incidents that can cause damage to your home include fire, lightning strikes, explosions, falling objects, wind and hail, vandalism, and theft. You can have your home insurance plan cover just your home or it can extend to other buildings and fences.

A personalized plan is also going to allow you to get additional protection for the items in your house. It is a good idea to have extra insurance on any valuable items you have such as jewelry, coin collections, and computers. If you have personal items covered in your insurance plan, it is important to update your personal belongings inventory once a year to ensure that your coverage remains accurate.

Considerations to Take When Personalizing Your Plan

When you sit down with an insurance agent who specializes in personalized home insurance plans, you are going to be asked questions to help determine what your specific insurance needs are. When you are making the determination of what risks you are going to want to have protection against, it is helpful to know what risks are common in the area your home is in. If you have just moved to the area, you can join a community group on Facebook and ask what risks people in your area most commonly experience. Blow out sales prices likely on mattresses as new U.S. fire-resistant standards take effect

Wednesday, June 20, 2007

If you are in the market for new bedding, and not too concerned with the new United States guidelines for mattress fire resistance, now might be a good time to buy. Mattresses sold in the U.S. must meet new federal guidelines for flammability starting on July 1.

The peak heat release rate is limited to 200 kW during a 30 minute test. The total heat release is limited to 15 MJ within the first 10 minutes.”

The flammability of mattress sets sold in the U.S. is subject to a new mandatory federal regulation requirement passed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on February 16 last year. The requirement, costing mattress manufacturers an estimated $100 million to meet, is scheduled to take effect on July 1. The commission anticipates that the new standards will save 270 lives and 1,330 injuries per year from mattress fires.

“We’ve passed a new open flame regulation and the whole idea behind the regulation is to make sure that if a mattress catches on fire that the fire burns slowly enough that people have enough time to get out of the house and get away,” said Hal Stratton, chairman of the CPSC

Radio and TV advertising spots are reacting to the new regulation by discounting prices on mattresses that fail to meet the new guidelines. Sales made in the mattress industry, like the automobile industry, are highly negotiable on price. The new regulation does not appear to have much “teeth” for mattresses already in the distribution pipeline, but it is a new law that is a bargaining position for potential buyers.

Los Angeles commuter train collides with freight train; over two dozen killed

Saturday, September 13, 2008

At least 25 people have been killed and many more injured when a Metrolink commuter train collided yesterday afternoon with a Union Pacific freight train in the Chatsworth district of Los Angeles. Around 250 firefighters have responded to the accident scene.

Estimates are that 350-400 people were on the number 111 commuter train which departed from Los Angeles’ Union Station at 3:35pm PDT. The collision occurred on Friday at about 4:25pm PDT on Metrolink’s Ventura County Line. The area in which the crash took place is hilly and contains a single track; it is just north of the Chatsworth Metrolink station.

The force of the collision sent the locomotive of the Metrolink train to penetrate deep into the lead bi-level passenger car of the three-car train. The collision then knocked the Union Pacific and Metrolink locomotives on their side along with the lead passenger car.

This is the worst accident I’ve ever seen. Clearly the injuries are going to mount and so are the fatalities.

According to various sources, upwards of 10-15 passengers, possibly even more than 20, have been killed, including a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer. The LAPD has not released the name of the officer. The engineer of the Metrolink train is believed to be another of the fatalities.

The number of injured is believed to be 135, although the precise number is still unclear. According to emergency responders, the injured have been transported to Los Angeles area hospitals, including the University of California, Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center and Huntington Hospital.

“This is the worst accident I’ve ever seen. Clearly the injuries are going to mount and so are the fatalities,” Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, said.

It is unclear how the accident occurred. Some of the possibilities include a signal malfunction, a failure by a crew member to notice a signal or a lapse in protocol for moving trains safely in the area. According to Metrolink and the Los Angeles Times, the National Transportation Safety Board has a team on scene and is investigating.

In an apparently unrelated incident less than an hour after the crash in Chatsworth, another Metrolink train collided with a car in Corona, California, killing the female driver of the automobile.

Time For Awnings}

Submitted by: Keith C George

Awnings, that are coverings on the external walls of a residential or commercial building, can get you shade and cover an area. Generally they are used for commercial purposes like signboards and billboards. For private as well as public purposes, awnings are also used to provide protection from sunlight, snow, rain, winds etc. The material used is in most cases acrylic cloth or canvas and beautiful and attractive patterns can be printed to get an aesthetic appeal.

Poles must be used to provide support for large awnings. Often the awnings have attractive patterns and pictures printed over them to increase the appeal of a building and match with the house. Today they are available in a wide variety of colors, shapes, sizes and design. Steel, iron, aluminum and wood are generally used for the frame and aluminum is the preferred material since it is light.

Awnings over windows help in keeping the interiors cool by blocking sunlight from entering the room and this can reduce your electricity bill by almost 25 percent on air conditioner electricity consumption.

There are many companies involved in making and installing these products and most of them provide free estimates and costing. One special advantage with awnings is that they can be used to change the feel of a building be it commercial or residential. A bright awning adds to the aesthetic appeal of the building, making it more attractive.

Usually there are two types of night awnings, backlit and front lit. The material is different depending on the type. For backlit awnings usually vinyl laminated and polyester coated material are used. Other awnings have acrylic coated mesh, PVC coated mesh, vinyl coated polyester and resin coated polyester. There are materials which have fire retardants in them to increase the safety.

Retractable awnings are also available in the market and very popular as retraction is required to protect the awnings in winter. Retraction can be either manual or motorized and these day more people seems to prefer the manual type. Not only for the price, also because they want the exercise.

Generally these products are easily washable but you have to use the proper equipment. Stain and mildew removal is easily attained, just use mild soap and a soft brush. One should try to prevent pooling of water on the awnings as that may stretch the material and cause damages. Also remember to retract them if the wind speed reaches around 30 miles per hour.

That is because it is estimated that every hour, a new business or company starts up, making up for already congested industries.Different industries have different companies and you could be surprised how the number of firms is increasing through time. Thus, the competition is so intense that the consumers are already becoming too confused on how to pick the company they would transact with.Through the years, many marketing and advertising firms have sprouted to help different companies get to their intended clients. Thus, there are numerous ads and marketing campaigns that circulate through all media portals. These services usually lead you to transacting with firms for your specific needs.Sales letters are among these new marketing and advertising tools. you can check it out from www.10steps-to-killer-web-copy.com Through the years, companies and consumers are starting to recognize the effectiveness and use of these marketing documents.Sales lettersBecause people always easily get bored with the conventional, companies must make sure their messages come across to prospective clients. Because there is too much going on in the media and to the working environment, ads and marketing strategies must be very creative enough to solicit attention. The purpose of sales lettersEach type of letters has its own purpose. In the case of the sales letter, the purpose is to convince the reader to move and place an order or buy / subscribe products and services. In this regard, it can be asserted that sales letters are like sales talk with prospective clients. If sales people find it challenging to convince people to buy products personally through short talks, it is more challenging persuading people to buy products through letters. But if the letters hit the right notes, the result is almost always clear: the reader would act to buy the product or service. Thus, many marketing and ad firms are resorting to writing business letters because company clients also ask them to do so, go to www.web-sales-letter-supreme.comConsidering the significant results of the marketing tools.Sales letters purposely influence people’s minds and perceptions so these people can be ordered to buy the products. That is why it is important that sales letters be written effectively.Writing sales lettersConsidering the purpose, sales letters must be written in ways that would surely persuade readers. How could that be? By getting straight to the point and honest. In writing sales letter, experts advise that you should bear the intended readers in mind while composing the content. Ask yourself, “Will this letter attract attention of readers?” If the answer to the question is yes, then proceed to another one, “How can I keep the readers engaged to the letter so they could absorb the persuasive message?”To attract attention, use strong marketing words that surely create an appeal to readers. Create catchy and interesting subject headings. Keep the readers engaged by being straight to the point. Offer the best you could, like the benefits of buying the product.Sales letters must not be too wordy. Assume that the readers are busy people who have better things to do and to attend to instead of spending a precious minute reading a letter. If the letter communicates a clear message in a minute or less, then it surely would be effective and would easily drive the reader to suggested action, which is simply to buy the product endorsed.A sales letter is a contemporary sales and marketing tool. Billy West, voice of Ren and Stimpy, Futurama, on the rough start that shaped his life

Ren and Stimpy. Bugs Bunny. Philip J. Fry and Professor Hubert Farnsworth on Futurama. Sparx. Bi-Polar Bear. Popeye the Sailor Man. Woody Woodpecker. You may not think you have ever heard Billy West, but chances are on a television program, a movie, a commercial, or as Howard Stern’s voice guru in the 1990’s, you have heard him. West’s talent for creating personalities by twisting his voice has made him one of a handful of voice actors—Hank Azaria and the late Mel Blanc come to mind—who have achieved celebrity for their talent. Indeed, West is one of the few voice actors who can impersonate Blanc in his prime, including characterizations of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and other characters from Warner Bros. cartoons.

What is the fulcrum in Mr. West’s life that led him to realize a talent to shape personalities with his voice, and how did the discovery of that gift shape him? Wikinews reporter David Shankbone found that like many great comedians, West faced more sour early in life than he did sweet. The sour came from a physically and emotionally abusive alcoholic father (“I could tell you the kind of night I was going to have from the sound of the key in the door or the way the car pulled up.”), to his own problems with drug and alcohol use (“There is a point that you can reach in your life where you don’t want to live, but you haven’t made the decision to die.”).

I’m telling you stuff that I never said to anybody…

If sin, suffering and redemption feel like the stages of an endless cycle of American existence, West’s own redemption from his brutalized childhood is what helped shape his gift. He performed little bits to cheer up his cowed mother, ravaged by the fact she could not stop her husband’s abuse of young West. “I was the whipping boy and she would just be reduced to tears a lot of times, and I would come in and say stuff, and I would put out little bits just to pull her out of it.”

But West has also enjoyed the sweet. His career blossomed as his talent for creating entire histories behind fictional characters and creatures simply by exploring nuance in his voice landed him at the top of his craft. You may never again be able to forget that behind the voice of your favorite character, there is often an extraordinary life.

Below is David Shankbone’s interview with renowned voice actor Billy West, who for the first time publicly talks about the horrors he faced in his childhood; his misguided search for answers in anger, drugs and alcohol; and the peace he has achieved as one of America’s most recognizable voice actors.
